Kelham Hall Wedding of Sandy and Andy
After the amazing Indian Sangeet celebration the night before, Sandy and Andy’s wedding at Kelham Hall, Nottinghamshire, needed to be something special. Happily, it exceeded all expectations and Kelham proved to be the perfect venue with it’s picturesque grounds and impressively large rooms easily accommodating the 250 or so guests of the couple.
Where the Sangeeth was all about Sandy’s Indian culture, the wedding was a very a British affair, albeit one that was made all the more colourful by the wonderful and saris and turbans worn by many of the Indian guests. For me, one of the most striking moments was when Sandy’s father walked her up the aisle. Looking positively regal in his military uniform and deep red turban, he was only upstaged by his daughter who looked truly stunning in her white dress set off with purple and white flowers. Andy’s smile said it all and as a photographer, the lovely thing for me was that all this colour worked so well with the warm hues created by the red brick and imposing stone columns in the ceremony room.
Post ceremony, the sun came out on cue and all the guests were able to enjoy a relaxed drinks reception on the lawn at the back of Kelham Hall. From there, it was back inside for the wedding breakfast in ‘The Dome’, a vast space crowned, as you’d expect, by a high domed ceiling that is cathedral like in scale.
By the time I left, the dancing was in full flow, Sandy was in the thick of the dancefloor action and Andy looked like the happiest man alive. In fact from what I saw, I’m pretty sure that’s exactly who he was that day.
I’d like to take this chance to congratulate Sandy and Andy on their incredible wedding at Kelham Hall. It was a pleasure to photograph and I wish them all the very best for the future.
