Andrew, thank you so much for all your hardwork which has resulted in a set of beautiful images from our day. It is hard to take everything in on the day itself, and you have been able to provide us with a wonderful, varied and fun collection of photos to keep for our memories. You have captured the special moments beautifully. We also appreciated your lovely unobtrusive style on the day which helped everyone relax around the camera. Thank you

- Joanna and James

I first met Joanna and James in  in a cafe in North London  and learned that they were planning to get married in Revesby, a picturesque village in Lincolnshire where Joanna grew up and her parents still live. It’s a lovely spot, with a large village green and a picture-perfect church – it was very easy to see why the couple had opted to get married there. Indeed, one of the big pluses of working as a wedding photographer in Lincolnshire is that I get to spend time in some of the most beautiful countryside in Britain.

Although the week before the wedding saw the weather turn rather grim, the day itself start slightly grey but warm, and thankfully, rather like the wedding, only got better and better as the day went on.

My day started with Joanna and her bridesmaids as they got ready at Joanna’s parents house. There was plenty of activity, some lovely window light and a heady haze of hairspray – more than enough to keep me interested and it was soon time to pop to the Red Lion pub to get a few pictures of James and his groomsmen as they enjoyed the warm weather and a quick drink.

From there, it was a quick drive up to the church, where the couple’s guests were just beginning to gather. At this point I’d just like to say a big thank you to my assistant for the day, Olivia Johnston, who at this stage took on a ‘second shooter’ role and photographed Joanna’s final preparations back at the house.

The ceremony went without hitch and by mid-afternoon, as the couple and their guests enjoyed drinks and canapes on the lawn of Joanna’s parents house, blue sky had cut through the grey and the light was as lovely as I can remember working with. After shooting a few portraits with them, Joanna and James joined their guests in the marquee. The speeches all went well and from my side of the lens and judging by the smiles on their faces, the rest of the day went exactly as the couple had planned.

I’d like to thank Joanna and James for giving me the opportunity to meet and work with them. It was a pleasure to photograph such a wonderful wedding and I wish them all the best for what I’m sure will be a long and happy marriage.
